Hello everyone.
Here is my latest completed project : a Monogram '57 Nomad, that I tried to build as a tribute to the famous Sam Hollingsworth's one (the flamed Nomad that appeared on the box art of the old Revell model).
The car was prepped for paint, then primered with Tamiya spray can. Several gold base coats were applied (Tamiya rattle can), then the roof was masked, & I applied several coats of clear orange on the rest of the body. Later, when dry, I used masks from stickitgraphics (Australia), & painted the flames using the same gold colour. The flame pattern is not identical to the Hollingsworth's, but as I wrote, it is a tribute, not an exact clone. And, with my airbrush, I shot faded clear red on some parts of the flames.
The rest of the build was nearly box stock : I replaced the kit-supplied Centerline wheels with wire wheels (from a Cobra), & added white line tires (decals from a Mustang convertible). The car was dropped by modifying the suspensions. The interior has just been flocked to duplicate the carpeting, & I replaced the too modern steering wheel by a 50's Corvette one.
